Trying to find the name of other composite core material

I know that I could use coosa blue water 26 for my deck to replace the 1/2" plywood core that was in there prior.

But, if there another core that is equivalent that I should consider?

I don't think any type of honey comb would work since I would have to increase the thickness of the core and I don't want to waste alot of resin

You need to provide span details.

Aquaplas comes in 1/2".

Perhaps a 12# corecell, but $$$$

Other cores may suit, but only if spans are known.

Coosaboard is a stand alone structural element though, is it not ? The reinforcement is built in to it. Are there analogues of that, I guess is the question. Likely would be.

I have used Coosa quite a bit over the years and it is a good product used sensibly but I can not think of a situation where I would use it as a stand alone structural material. I know it is marketed as a replacement for plywood, it is not. At the end of the day it is still foam with all the good and bad that comes with that. Its perfect for the OPs application. It does have random continuous strand fiberglass in the matrix as well as a few plies of woven roving, again, randomly placed sometimes it is near the neutral axis, others further out so i only use it with fiberglass skins. It is quite stiff so it still needs to be scored or cut into squares like plywood to be used as a core replacement in a cambered situation.

Coosa boards are structural foam hence used as a substitute for plywood. Mostly used in transom but good for cargo decks. PVC foam will do if sized right. Forget honeycomb. It is strong in compression but weak in shear. Plus it cannot be laminated over without showing dimples.
