On the original question, if you can haul up 2m (6 feet) of 8mm chain, and the anchor, go for it, and forget the 6mm chain; if you can't, then you probably won't be able to haul up 6m of 6mm chain and the anchor anyway, if the water is 6m deep. Then get a winch.

To be blunt if someone can't pull up 6m of 6mm chain then they are probably not fit enough to be sailing much.

If weight is a consideration and the money is available I would certainly go for one of the modern anchors instead of something like a CQR or standard Danforth type. We changed our CQR and trademark Danforth after the latter broke a weld at 3 am in a small anchorage, which was extremely unpleasant. We now had a Sarca Excel and a Fortress, and we're amazed at how superior they are to the old designs. For a TY I'd be tempted to go for a Fortress due to its amazing weight/power combination, although it does have the occasional issues inherent in the style of design in some conditions.

The first time we used the Fortress was when I dropped it over the side while anchored, as a test. It was holding very well with the rode about 30 degrees from the vertical, in clear sand. Amazing.

I think that if you are on a dingy and a storm is coming, the sensible response is to beach the boat and only use the anchor to keep it from flying away.
