I'm an owner-builder putting together a private project and I'm looking for a small, experienced crew to do the metal work.
What I'm after:
- A lead fabricator plus two or three welders, or an established small shop willing to take on a single job
- Marine-grade plate work, 5083 or 5086, round-bilge hull form in the 50 to 65 ft range
- All parts will arrive as a CNC-cut kit, so this is assembly and welding, not lofting
- Roughly six to ten months of continuous work
- Structure only, no outfitting, no systems
What I'd like to know from you:
- What aluminum hull work you've done, and roughly how big
- What weld qualifications your people currently hold (ABS, USCG, AWS)
- Where you're based, and whether you'd travel or work at your own shop
- Your day rate or hourly, and whether you'd take a fixed price on a defined scope
Location isn't fixed yet. East Coast and Gulf Coast are both on the table, and where the right crew is will influence where the work happens.
Please PM me rather than replying in-thread. Happy to talk on the phone.
Thanks.
