Looking for a naval architect to do some design work. I thought it was something I could do but I realized I could probably save myself tons of time and and having it right the first time. Project would be to design a planing stepped hull for a tritoon. Looking to break some speed records and I really think the hull design is my biggest limiting factor.

Hello, I am a Naval Architect; I have experience in yacht design also palnning stepped hull, you can check my portfolio here https://goodrindo.id

What is the main goal? Can you break the speed record with any hull design, or does it have to be a stepped hull?

the main goals is to find more efficient resistance in every speed, I usually using Maxsurf resistance to study it, its can analysis with or without stepped hull, the purpose of stepped hull is to reduce lift force or damping factor when in ship in hight speed

Steeped hull design is to reduce wetted surface area = less resistance.
It can, depending on the design, also improve dynamic stability.

I am not aware of Seakeeper being validated on a series of stepped hulls for resistance predication.

The most efficient hull will change depending on the target speed. From what I understand, you want the Holy Grail of designs; a hull that will be the best at all speeds.

I had thought that while the wetted surface is reduced, the other main reason for a stepped hull is to create another high pressure (lift) stagnation line for the same length of wetted hull length. Ie from the start of the front wetted surface to the
    transom.

Whilst it does create such, whether this is the secondary objective, is uncertain.
Since the actual design, i.e the LCG, of the hull plays a major part in the location of the steps, and whether 1 or more steps are actually required.

Note that stepped hulls can be subject to impressive dynamic instabilities. There is an article on this by Dick Akers at www.proboat.com
