Lets look at a couple of multihulls that sailed in the once infamous single-handed transatlantic races from England to Newport RI,...OSTAR.
Three Cheers and Gulf Streamer sailing together in the Solent. Note the low aspect rigs, particularly of Three Cheers which enables her to carry several sails low down in strong weather. Neither yacht has a fully battened mainsail !
