Making a mould...

Taking the advice from this forum I finally got it right, (or I think I did), although next time I will take kapnD's advise and simply roll it. I will be doing the female mould this morning but I have a question..... When I have finished the gelcoat CSM and resin and I vacuum bag everything what happens to the excess resin. Can I put something within the bag to soak up the excess? I have seen one tip advising kitchen paper towels ....??

A foam roller will lay down a nice thin PVA layer, I hold a strong light in my free hand to help identify puddles of the stuff.
A pump sprayer does a good job on small or irregular surfaces.
When I first started using it, my standard application tool was a rolled up,sock!

So now we have the answer where all those single socks disappear to....

A report back, It seemed have worked, thanks to all the tremendous support I got on this forum, thank you all...... I have a few seemingly little issues which I will tackle in time, but my female mould is done and once again thanks for all the support and advice

Okay sooner than I thought, another question. Can I paint the gelcoat into my female mould and still then vacuum infuse the resin. I assume I need to let the gel set to a certain extent but I guess my question is will the mechanical fix between the infused resin and the gelcoat be affected if I don't get the timing perfect?

You need to let it gel to the point where it can be laminated on (about an hour), after that you’ve got a day or so to infuse.

Indeed have had great success ....aplogies for not coming back asI said I would, I will post some pics tomorrow of what I have managed to achieve following all the advice I got on this forum.
