Eastern NC Vernacular Craft

Looking for folks with experience building/sailing some of the traditional boats of the outer banks, particularly sharpies and spritsail skiffs.

Any particular designs that are known to be good sailors? I have a small preference for spritsail sloop rigs, cat ketch sharpies are also neat!

Sailing performance is the primary criteria, with a light hull weight and simple build being secondary goals.
