Concept feedback: Ultra-light 4m plywood day-sailer (stitch-and-glue)

I can believe he molded two hulls. However, there is the deck, fittings, etc. That is not credible he installed in two boats he built before dinner and after work.

Sorry, they were 8' dinghies, not sail boats. So just a couple of eye straps and oar lock fittings if I remember correctly. But my point was regarding stich and glue construction. I like stitch and glue in these small craft, but it is for onsies - twosies, not a production technique. Even fast, jig-built taped seam construction ended in the late fifties or early 60s'.

I agree for a moderate weight, low performance hull like a dinghy. An ultralight is a much more highly engineered structure.

If you want classic and sporty at the same time, you could look at some of Uffa Fox's planing dinghies. This link only has a couple of them, but it gives you some idea. Pt 1.6: “Fox hunting”: Uffa, Avenger and the planing dinghy https://sailcraftblog.wordpress.com/2016/10/05/pt-1-6-fox-hunting-uffa-fox-avenger-and-the-planing-dinghy/ I think his Firefly was quite popular at one time. https://earwigoagin.blogspot.com/2021/07/header-photo-firefly-upwind.html I don't know if any of his planing dinghies had hard chines, but you might get some ideas from Classic Moths, some of which have that look and many of which are suitable for plywood. 1960’s – Mariposa (FR) – International Moth Lowriders UK https://intmothlowriders.org/designs/designs-60/designs-40-50-2-2-3-2-2-3-2-2-3/# Classic Moth plans https://earwigoagin.blogspot.com/2010/03/classic-moth-plans.html. If this dinghy is for single handed sailing, an existing classic moth design may meet your requirements very well. Maybe not this moth, which isn't a classic: https://scontent-bos5-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...I0GwV3QcMfc-Ck8OcXECUtv4zRxnzS_mw&oe=6AC4F785
