A lot of work for an extra 2 knots and extra fuel consumption, but job well done on hitting your target. Sorry that you felt well intentioned information was "toxic", but others including myself was commenting on the proposed modification in the first post, and what you actually built was far different in the all important underwater lines, which is why what you built does not squat, but what you orginally proposed would have.
 
Is the new crusing speed of 8 to 10 knots with both engines running? If so, did you notice an increase in crusing speed (due to increased water line length) with just 1 motor?
 
The main issue you have is that the electrical systems in a diesel are not spark protected. That means that gas fumes may make your boat explode. It is a bad idea to mix diesel and gas systems in a boat.
 
Congratulations on achieving your goal particularly with the headwinds you experienced , the Albin 25 with 1750kg displacement is really quite light which would really help with improving wetted surface with a bit more power, as willy 13 asked, how much did the extra waterline improve speed overall without the outboard running?
 
We own an Albin 25 with a 20 hp Yanmar. It goes 6 knots using about 8 or 9 hp. It will only go 7 knots wide open. I much prefer the 6 knots because it only uses .35 gallons per hour. We do long distances because the cruising grounds are not very close. I'm used to fast boats, but have really gotten to like going slower. There's time to space out, take a nap, whatever.
A light Albin 25 is an efficient boat. Mine was built in 1971.
 
You might improve speed by raising the outboard.
You’ll never see true planing speeds, but the deep outboard leg is causing a lot of drag.
