Hi,
I'm doing a preliminary weight calculation for a steel motor yacht 24m LOA and I need a some additional benchmark data. Anybody here willing to share weight calculations from their portfolio? Primarily I'm talking about estimating the weight of the main groups (Hull, Superstructure, Engine room, interior, etc.)
Thank you.

Is this your design for the motor yacht?
If so, have you drawn an initial general arrangement drawing, and come up with a preliminary lines plan?
If you have, then I think it is simply a case now of doing a lot of tedious estimates for all the individual parts.
If you have a computer designed lines plan, it should tell you what the hull surface area is - multiply this by the hull thickness and this will give you an approx weight for the hull plating.
Add in an allowance for frames, stiffeners and bulkheads.
You could calculate the weight of the deck and superstructure in similar fashion.
Look up the weights of the engine(s) that you are using.
Do some estimates for the outfit equipment and furniture.
The weight calculations by somebody else are not going to help you very much unless they are for a very similar vessel.
