Good evening all,
I made a post on this forum a few months ago about my new program Scantling & Stability which i've developed, since then I have now changed it into a webapp with a link to the video below and renamed it Navacal.
Ive also added the BV NR600 and 467 calculations to it and...
Hello,
I am currently trying to export this canoe design I have from delftship into Solidworks for a project. However, I only have the free version of delftship and I don't think it'll let me save it in the correct file type. I believe I need a STEP or IGES file. Would anyone be willing to use...
Im starting a project of designing, a large, fast, cost effective keel boat that is possible, I want all the advice you guys are wiling to give including software to draw, design, and build in (not too expensive) as well as any physics or mathematical things to pay attention to.
I am looking...
This article demonstrates a simple process for generating hull models for MICHLET 9.33 in Spline Formats, and using Python to extract and display wave pattern plots.

I've initially created this app for myself (repairs, installing new equipment, standing rigging, etc), but later put it on the App Store, in case anyone else might need it.

Has anyone ever encountered this problem before with Maxsurf? Usually when I add a default surface, its like this.
But when I move it longitudinally to another position, there's this extra chunk when I render. Deleting the middle control points seem to do the trick but I wanna know how this works.
I don't know why this happens. I got the offset table from my school project. I put them together as seen in the picture. But when i try to open that in maxsurf (dxf) it breaks into two piece and some lines became straight. WHAT CAN I DO?? I can't seem to find solution. Any advice?
In connection with my previous question "catamaran float", I'd like to know what type of software can be used to model my project.
If I find a model or plans to make a model, I imagine I can then send all the information to a machine. Whether it's for 3D printing or for cutting out...
Hello! Im new to maxsurf modeler and im trying to do a AHTS model for college project. I have create a AHTS hull and for the project, we need to test different bulbous in the same hull. So i created 2 file (.msd) and one we have the hull and other the bulbous. When i tried to combine both, the...
I am pleased to share with you my new version 3.1 of Gene-Hull Dinghy , a spreadsheet application oriented for an early stage project : this version is mostly motivated by a new approach of the keel line shape (i.e. hull bottom center line for a dinghy) now generated with a curvature regularly...
I am pleased to propose you this upgraded version 3.3 of « Gene-Hull Sailboat » and its post applications Gene-Stab and Gene-VPP. I remind you that they are free spreadsheet applications developed with OpenOffice Calc, and dedicated to the early stage project of sailboat (keel boat, daysailer...
Software for yacht interior design:
Is anyone aware of any packages to do this? Offline is definitely better for controlling my assets and making sure I don't eventually get priced out of the marketplace, or become a victim of the developer removing his web-application, at some future date...
I know this question has been asked but weeds grow pretty quickly in the forums and I don't want to weed whack.
What are good software options for designing small sailboats (<45') ?

Hi,
I am very much interested in knowing:
1. Do you make the 2D structural drawing first before making the 3D Structural Ship Design?
2. Which software do you use for 3D structural ship design?
3. Which software do you use for the 2D drawing/ production drawing to submit in the class?
4. If you...
Hello,
I did a POC to automatically generate hull shapes with freecad using Gene-Hull data.
This is the alpha version (only one type of keel and rudder).
The design is fully parametric (with Spreadsheet Workbench) and can generate all hull types calculated by Gene-Hull.
Here are 3 examples...
I propose you an upgraded version 3.0 of Gene-Hull Dinghy ( / the previous version 2.42) , a spreadsheet application oriented for an early stage project : this new version is mostly justified by sections shape new formulation, inc. for topsides in case of an hard chine, allowing a wider variety...
John Letcher got a PhD in Aerodynamics from CalTech in 1966, sailed across the Pacific six times - twice single-handedly in a 20 ft boat, formed AeroHydro (makers of MultiSurf and SurfaceWorks) and served as the senior scientist on the 1987 America's Cup Stars & Stripes. In 1972, he published a...
I propose you an upgraded version 3.2 of Gene-Hull Sailboat, spreadsheet application for an early stage project, mostly justified by the Sections shape new formulation both generalised and simplified (less parameters to input). The previous combination of V and E sections is no longer necessary...
Currently, I am now working on a kind of loading instrument software based on our ship design software package. Core functions such as stability calculation and strength calculation have been implemented, and the graphics display and data interaction will continue to be improved in the near...
