I'm looking for a pontoon project since even used pontoons in rough shape go for a premium around here. Essentially I'm looking to take an old "party barge" strip it down and make it more of a plain old barge: Pontoons, deck, tiller outboard, perimeter fence, and not much else. Near my place of work there is an old 'toon sitting on a trailer in a backyard with weeds growing out of the deck, trailer tires dry rotted and flat, the whole thing covered in dirt, mold, and mildew, and the deck furniture cracked, dry rotted and ripped. However, the trailer looks salvageable as do the pontoons and the aluminum deck framing. Everything else would be hauled off to the landfill. I haven't been able to get close enough to measure but its at least a 20 footer if not longer. I've looked up phone numbers, left messages, sent a text, knocked on the door, etc...with no response. From the Google searching I've done it looks as though its an elderly woman who lives there and the house is in disrepair but the lawn is mowed and cars seem to come and go from the driveway. In the voicemails and texts I've left I explained why I want the boat and that if its not for sale to please just tell me that and I will not attempt to contact them again, but so far nothing. I'm going to try a letter as a last resort, but what the heck is with people? I wouldn't be surprised if this thing has been sitting on that trailer for 20 years taking up room in a backyard that is not large at all. Anyway...just a rant out of sheer frustration-there, I feel better now :p

Sometimes it's not metal or wood or fiberglass, but plans and good memories that are hard to part with.
