I wish to hire a designer/architect to help me create my vision of a houseboat. A pdf of the SOR and block layout is attached. Northern California location preferred but not required.

You must be a proponent of elegance+utility within a budget. Weight and stability calculations, CAD drawings, and construction plans in stages. Work to be completed by May 30.

Mark, could you maybe post these on this thread please, so that we caqn get a better idea as to what you are trying to achieve?

Some photos of the existing boat, as she is now, would also be useful for reference.

I just found out that repurposed steel pontoons are impossible to insure. So I am abandoning this approach, and will re-post for a project using new fiberglass pontoons.

"repurposed steel pontoons are impossible to insure"

I would expect that a steel boat structure, be it pontoons or even a hull, would need to comply with established standards of engineering, and if adequately inspected and adequately engineered, would be as insurable as any other steel even with a history of being "repurposed". How did you come to the knowledge of your statement?
