A possible down wind sail plan for a Rescue Boat

    I saw a website for osail, but they haven't updated in since 2012. Looked promising as a simple downwind device. They must have bombed.

    its the idea, your a man of short sentances. ; ) Do you know where I could find the infor on the length/ angle needed. If this is the main issue Im guessing it wont be too hard to resolve. cheer

    You would need to extend the hull at least a couple of metres, by curving the keel line upwards from the transom and back, and the chines curving back toward the centreline, so instead of an abrupt termination, now have a gradual reduction in volumes, ending with less "suck" at the stern. That would be a fair job, and your boat will likely be too long for the trailer.

    Something like this...…...But you'd be better off selling it and buying a sailboat.

    Extending it that far back may make it the most efficient. But perhaps a more abrupt ending, like, say 1.5 x the keel depth may make a considerable improvement.
