I began designing and building model boats somewhere round the age of seven and began sailing dinghies at age twelve. I designed a championship winning Cherub dinghy in my early 20's (circa 1980). In '85 I took up a position with Incat Designs (high speed catamaran ferries), where I learn't 3D modelling, which was in it's infancy at the time. In '89 I was invited to join Advanced Multihull Designs (a competitor to Incat), where I stayed for ten years. There I was involved in hull development and tank testing and I developed a special interest in hull resistance prediction. The company produced designs for wave piercing catamaran passenger and car ferries, as well as conventional catamaran ferries. We also designed the worlds fastest car ferry, which was gas turbine powered and achieved a speed of 60 knots, a fun project. When the company downsized in 2000, I returned to general mechanical design. I currently do part time marine work for Grahame Parker Designs (low wash ferries).
Oh, I almost forgot, I also have an interest in electronic music.
